This is a realistic but expressive representation of the historical Grand Canyon in Arizona. Painted by WHAM painter and instructor, Ron Souza, the foreground has prominent multi-layered cliffs and mesas that dominate the lower half of the composition. At the mid-ground, the canyon descends into deep, shadowed chasms with glimpses of softer slopes. The distant hazy canyon walls and plateaus stretch toward the horizon under a pale, softly overcast sky. The use of warm, sun-drenched highlights against cool shadows define the immense scale and ruggedness of the Arizona landscape. Size is 24"H x 18"W.
