Acrylic portrait of a whiteface circus clown is painted on a thick, irregularly shaped natural slate rather than on canvas. The clown features bright red/orange hair, a prominent red nose, sparkling blue eyes and a small black hat. There is a ruffled green collar or ruff below the face. The artists signature is visible in the lower right hand corner. This piece is similar to mid-century pieces often found in antique shops.
